Brisbane Legacy

A legacy of care for young families

With the recent increase in the number of Australians serving overseas on security and humanitarian tasks, we are seeing a corresponding increase in the number of veterans, and in the event of death, more families to care for.

The heart-wrenching loss of a loved one is difficult enough, but the need to continue caring for a young family alone brings even more struggle. Legacy’s help is invaluable to these families. Our experienced volunteers cushion the blow, and are committed to doing whatever it takes to help put lives back together.

Donna and her two young children are our youngest family in Brisbane Legacy. Her late husband was serving in East Timor before his death.

When Adrian passed away, I didn’t know how we were going to cope. I had so many offers of help from every direction initially, but since the dust settled, it has been my church family and Legacy that have been my lifeline. I was especially comforted to learn that Legacy will continue to be there for us on an ongoing basis.

The first time we received Legacy’s help at Christmas was so unexpected. I was totally blown away by their generosity, and it brought me to tears. There have been lots of other little things like that which Legacy has done for me that make such a difference.

Legacy is like a safety net, a security. I know that there is always someone to turn to in Legacy.
